Asus Eee PC T91 touchscreen tablet launching by early June

Asus Eee PC T91

The first touchscreen swivel tableted from Asus — the Eee PC T91 that was announced by the company at CES in January, has been confirmed by ASUS for a late May or early June release in the UK.

Eee PC T91 is expected to sell for £449 (about $685) and will include 8.9″ rotating touchscreen display that converts into a tablet and a stylus and will initially ship with Windows XP and Asus’ own touchscreen technology. Other specs include a Z520 Atom processor, 1GB RAM and a 32GB SSD hard drive and built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Asus is also in discussion with mobile broadband providers to produce an Asus Eee PC T91 with integrated 3G mobile connectivity. This would ship for ‘free’, but on a mobile broadband contract.

No word on US release date, but Asus has already submitted this netbook to FCC.

Eee PC 701 becomes Eee PC Digital Picture Frame

Quinten Uijldert ovet at Awooga moded his Eee PC 701 2G into a digital picture frame. The frame runs Ubuntu 8.10 and in addition to photos it also displays weather forcast and time. Asus Eee PC 1004DN with Intel GN40 Chipset

1004DN To better compete with AMD Yukon and Nvidia ION Intel released GN40 chipset for it’s Atom processors. The new chip supports DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 and HD video decoding.

Today HKEPC got their hands on new Asus Eee PC 1004DN with Intel Atom N280 processor, GN40 chipset and built-in DVD-RW Super Multi-Drive.

1004DN is similar in size to Eee PC 1000HE with 10.2″ LED LCD screen that support WSVGA 1024 x 600 resolution. Other specs include 1.66Ghz Intel Atom N280 processor, 512KB L2 Cache with 667MHz FSB, 120GB Samsung SATA HDD with 8MB cache and 4200 RPM.

There is no word on actual release date, but 1004DN looks like “King of the hill” netbook.

Asus Added Eee Backup to its Eee Storage Service

eee-storage Asus has added Eee Backup to its online Eee Storage services. The application can automatically backup files and directories with little to no user involvement. Just select the directories you want to back up, and the application will do the rest.

Eee Storage is a free online storage space that offers from 10GB up to 60GB, depending on different models.

Asus Eee PC 1002HA Review

GadgetMix published a detailed review of Eee 1002HA. According to the review the new 1002HA is a hybrid of previously released Eee PC S101 and 1000H. “The EEE 1002HA share the many of the hardware specifications of the EEE 1000H and sleek and svelte looks of the admiring EEE S101.”

According to GadgetMix “The EEE 1002HA is a great machine which takes the all the positives of the EEE S101 and EEE 1000H. The ASUS took the challenge to produce a regular HDD-based EEE with the slim looks of S101. Are we happy with the final outcome? Yes! The 1002HA is great in performance and brings seriously professional looks. On the battery life front, it may not break and records, but with careful usage, you should easily get 3.5 hours+ of battery life.”

Specs for the unit include: 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, bays for two 3.5-inch SATA II drives, a 3.5″ touch screen, 802.11n WiFi, DVD-RW slot-loading optical drive, 4 gigabit Ethernet ports, USB / DVI sockets and a built-in three-cell Li-ion battery to power the unit for 15 minutes in case of a power failure.

Eee PC 1000h vs. Samsung NC20 in benchmark test

NewGadget.de compares Intel Atom beased Eee PC 1000h with VIA Nano based Samsung NC20. Although Eep PC 1000h scores a bit higher then Samsung NC20 in 3DMark 2001 benchmark, VIA Nano presents itself as a worthy oponent to Atom CPU. The benchmark was performed at 800 x 600 screen resolution.
