To better compete with AMD Yukon and Nvidia ION Intel released GN40 chipset for it’s Atom processors. The new chip supports DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 and HD video decoding.

Today HKEPC got their hands on new Asus Eee PC 1004DN with Intel Atom N280 processor, GN40 chipset and built-in DVD-RW Super Multi-Drive.

1004DN is similar in size to Eee PC 1000HE with 10.2″ LED LCD screen that support WSVGA 1024 x 600 resolution. Other specs include 1.66Ghz Intel Atom N280 processor, 512KB L2 Cache with 667MHz FSB, 120GB Samsung SATA HDD with 8MB cache and 4200 RPM.

There is no word on actual release date, but 1004DN looks like “King of the hill” netbook.
